All right dearies, this is what happens when you aren't attending school during the summer:
1) You become an insomniac and thus end up staying up late reading fanfiction and listening to music.
2) You end up working on some of your fanfictions.
3) You get attacked by several different ideas at once while you're trying to sleep.
4) You can't sleep peacefully because you're itching to get up and write.

Now what have I been up to you ask? Other than working a lot and trying to save up money, nothing really. I have been bitten by several different plot bunnies though. As I mentioned previously, all of these ideas are for different fandoms as well. I just managed to finish chapter four of Love Is A Battlefield which was returned to me two days ago.

I rewrote it (revisons and all that good stuff) and sent it back to my beta. I also revised my Inuyasha one shot because I was finally able to get it beta read! And there's also my SM one shot. I was having some trouble with getting the story to flow correctly so I sat down and changed several things.

Nothing important really. I just added more details and descriptions for certain scenes. I haven't heard from my beta though... I sent the revised version to her like three days ago and I have yet to hear anything. I ended up sending her a little note tonight asking her if she got the story. I hope she did because I'm really ready to post that story.

I'm going to wait three more days. If I don't hear from her by Saturday then the story is going up at fanfiction.net and shinnetou_ai. Anyway, my writing schedule hasn't changed much. I was planning on working on the next chapter to my GW story and then I was going to start work on my next Bleach story but I got sidetracked...

Listening to music and reading fanfiction will do that to you. ^__^ Anyway, I didn't expect this to happen but I will be eventually wandering off into the Transformers fandom. I've always been a fan of the cartoons (God knows there are soooo many of them) but I never bothered to write any stories for them. Until they made the movie though which rocked on soooo many levels! I suppose anything is possible right? I mean I ended up writing a fanfiction for Yu-Gi-Oh which I swore I would never ever venture into that fandom. Though I'm a fan of the show, I hated how it was run and ruled by yaoi fangirls.

I am NOT going to go on a rant but I will say this: I'm sick and tired of all of my fandoms being ruled by yaoi fangirls. How is it that characters who are as straight as they come end up falling madly in love with one or several different male characters from their perspective shows? I can understand if one or two of the characters swing that way (suddenly reminded of Uranus and Neptune from Sailor Moon) but to make characters swing that way just to satisfy your own wishes? I find that infuritating on so many levels. BUT I will never make it a point to wage war on someone who's into yaoi. If they tell me they're into that, I just try to change the conversation or I just don't say anything.

Over the years, there's one thing I've learned about being into anime/manga. You can't and you never will change other people's opinions. If they think a character or several characters swing the other way then there's nothing you can do to tell them otherwise. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah my current fanfictions!

Hopefully when I get up tomorrow I can start work on the following stories:

The school semester is finally over! I am pleased as punch that I will finally be able to write full time again. Yesterday was Mother's Day and I ended up writing a story. It was unexpected and completely last minute but I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. It was an Inuyasha one shot entitled Only You.

Genre: Family/Hurt/Comfort
Summary: “Sometimes I can’t help wondering if she’s proud of me… If she’s happy with the person I’ve become…”

It's over at fanfiction.net and I'm very proud of that story. I'm going to send it off to be beta read later on this evening though. I know there were a few spots that seemed rough and unpolished but still I'm very happy with that story. Originally I wanted to write a poem in honor of Mother's Day but the creative juices weren't exactly agreeing with me.

At any rate, I have finally managed to finish my Sailor Moon one shot. I'm not very pleased with the way that story came out. It feels too choppy and too rushed. The story feels like it's all over the place so hopefully my beta can give me some pointers on how to clean that story up.

I tried to use an original idea but for some reason the story just isn't in my heart... Maybe it's because I haven't seen Sailor Moon in so long? Or maybe it's because Sailor Moon isn't my fanfiction forte? Give me Gundam Wing, TMNT or even Bleach and I'm all right. Give me a fandom from way back when I was little and apparently I'm screwed. *sighs*

Good news though! I won't be abandoning my GW romantic comedy after all! Apparenly after I made a post over at het_romance and I basically asked the reviewers their thoughts, the story ended up getting some attention! That made me very happy. Not because I'm a review monger but only because I didn't want to end up writing a story for nothing you know? So chapter three has been completed and chapter four isn't far behind. I might start work on that particular chapter within the next couple of days.

Here's a list of what I shall be working on within the next couple of weeks.

Gundam Wing

Love Is A Battlefield
Chapter 4: Annoyed Beyond Belief

Ignorance Is Bliss
Summary: He always knew he would do anything for her.
Genre: Tragedy/Horror
Length: Two Shot

Yu Gi Oh

By Your Side
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Friendship
Summary: He had always known that one day he would eventually have to return to the realm of the dead. And though he didn’t want to leave his side, he promised to find him again one day.
Length: Two Shot

Better Than Me

Genre: Drama/Romance
Summary: She loved him and yet she had no idea how much pain she caused him.
Length: Multi-chaptered
Characters: Inuyasha and Kagome
Current Mood: creativecreative
All right. So the Yu Gi Oh one shot was posted ahead of schedule. For some reason, I couldn't stop myself from writing (when it came to that particular story). It turned out much better than I thought it would. Anyway I have one last final left before I focus back on writing. I think I'm going to wrap up my Bleach drabbles and then try to get the third chapter of my romantic GW comedy up. I hate to do it but in the next chapter, I'm going to leave a note explaining that I'm going to abandon the story if I don't hear any feedback. I know the whole point of being a writer isn't to get reviews and/or feedback but how else can you expect to improve and grow if you don't even know what you're doing wrong?

This is a list of what I'll be working on in the upcoming weeks:

Gundam Wing

Love Is A Battlefield
Chapter 3: Dog House Blues

Don't You Even Know I'm Alive?
Chapter 11: Ignorance

Ignorance Is Bliss
Summary: He always knew he would do anything for her.
Genre: Tragedy/Horror
Length: Two Shot

Yu Gi Oh

By Your Side
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Friendship
Summary: He had always known that one day he would eventually have to return to the realm of the dead. And though he didn’t want to leave his side, he promised to find him again one day.
Length: Two Shot

Sailor Moon

Genre: General
Summary: Few things in this world made sense. That much he knew and understood perfectly. What he didn't and couldn't understand, however, is why Kunzite chose him as second in command.
Length: One shot

There's no definite order as to how I'm going to do the stories. Most likely I'll just go with the story that I'm most inspired by.  I do think, however, that I'm retired from the TMNT fanfiction section. I haven't been able to come up with anything new and I have no desire to write anything TMNT related. I had some plot bunnies related to the 4th movie but a lot of people beat me to the punch with the ideas. Oh well, that's life.

As for the recipes, there are two dishes I need to post about: Baked tilipia with brown rice and mushroom gravy and Beef Tips with brown rice, mushroom sauce and mixed veggies. I'll post those recipes later on tonight when I'm taking a break from studying. Yes, I'm smack dab in the middle of finals at my university.

And in other good news, I will finally get my butt into gear and start exercising this summer! I don't know how well I'm going to do with kicking my sweet tooth or chip habit but I have been making a conscious effort to watch what I eat and what I buy.

Today I uploaded the second chapter to my Gundam Wing romantic comedy. I'm thinking of scraping the whole story though. Chapter 1 only got one review and so far I haven't gotten any reviews for chapter 2... I know it's only been a day but this has happened with my other Gundam Wing stories too. The only Gundam Wing story I wrote that got a lot of reviews was "Just One Of Those Days". That was mainly a general/humor story too! I was trying to break out of my angst, drama, tragedy and general habit so that's why I decided to tackle a romantic comedy.

Honestly I don't know what I'm doing wrong either. I try really hard to keep everyone in character (there's nothing worse than an OOC Gundam Wing story *shudders*) and I try to pay attention to grammar, punctuation, etc, etc. I hardly get reviews so in the event that I'm doing something wrong I wouldn't know... Nobody is reviewing so I'm stuck wondering whether or not I've done what I set out to do... *sighs*

Anyway, I haven't started work on chapter three yet but I'll get to that sometime Sunday evening. I make no guarantees though because I've been writing Love Is A Battlefield by the seat of my pants. I have, however, started working on a Yu-Gi-Oh one shot. Apparently it's much more easier and productive to just sit down and write rather than agonizing over what should happen, how this character should sound, etc, etc.

Luckily for me, I have at least several different betas (since I'm currently dabbling in several different fandoms at the moment). I'm trying to finish up the Yu-Gi-Oh one shot so I can send that off to be critiqued. I'm really proud and happy about this one shot though. I know the topic I chose has been done to death but I like the way it turned out.

Hmm, I think after I finish the Yu-Gi-Oh one shot, I'm going to try and wrap up my Bleach drabbles. I don't think I need to add anymore drabbles unless the reviewers ask me. That's what I'm going to say in the author's notes for my last drabble which shall be centered around my second Bleach OTP: Ishida/Orihime!

My number one Bleach OTP is Renji/Rukia. Now that I think about it, I just might have another Bleach idea in mind. *smirks* More on that idea when the pieces actually start falling into place though. The only other Bleach idea I have in mind at the moment is an Orihime centric one shot. It'll basically deal with the scene in the manga where she witnesses Ichigo fighting for the first time.

We all know Ichigo has a ruthless fighting style but Orihime never actually saw him fight up close and personal. I just want to try and write about how she would feel if she saw him fighting. You know since he's got the whole Vizard thing going on and what not. It got me to thinking about whether or not she'd still love and accept Ichigo for who he was (even if he would seem like a completely different person while fighting). Okay so maybe he's not a different person while he fights but you get the point.

And laugh if you will but I also have two Sailor Moon ideas in mind. The first SM story is going to take me forever to actually write because I'm currently annoyed as hell with Sailor Moon. It's a long rant I'll save for another day (more specifically for the day I'll start working on that ficlet). I don't think I'm going to have a problem with the second SM idea though. It's going to be Nephrite centric and it's a one shot.

I know most of my readers are probably annoyed as hell that I'm only doing one shots but that's all I can write at the moment. Hopefully when school lets out I'll have more time to write longer stories. *crosses fingers*

Back to Nephrite though! He's my absolute favorite male character but I was utterly appalled and horrified to find how little appreciation and love he gets from the SM fandom. Kunzite and Zoicite get way more attention than he does! Even Jadeite gets more attention than Nephrite does. At any rate, that particular one shot will deal with how he became second in command of the Generals during the Silver Millennium.

I've always wondered why was he chosen as second in command since he's so emotional and cocky. Supposedly he has also has a very nasty temper. The creator, herself, said "He's emotional and cocky. He'll probably get himself killed." And true to her words, he got himself killed because he let his emotions get in the way.

Oh did I mention that I prefer anime Nephrite over manga Nephrite. Let's just say I'm not very happy how the SM creator treated any of the villains. Most of them came across as one dimensional and flat. None of them were able to really shine or make me sit up and take notice of them. At least in the manga that's how I felt. In the anime though? There were several villians that just stole my heart and attention.

Anyway, here's a glimpse at my current fanfiction schedule so you all can know what to expect from me in the following weeks:

Don't You Even Know I'm Alive: Last drabble should be uploaded within the next few days.

Love Is A Battlefield: Chapter three should be up and running within the next two weeks.

3) YU-GI-OH!
I Can't Leave Him: Should be uploaded within the next week possibly two weeks (depends on how long it takes to get critiqued).

Love Letters: Tentatively next on my list of stories after the completion of my Bleach drabbles, Yu-Gi-Oh! one shot and uploading of the third chapter of Love Is A Battlefield. Not so sure when this story will actually be uploaded or if it will definitely be the next story I write.

Oh well. That's about it for now.

Current Mood: blahblah

Yesterday I updated my Bleach drabbles, "Don't You Even Know I'm Alive"? I haven't gotten any reviews for the latest chapter but it's only been a day. To be honest, I'm not really happy with the latest chapter. I wasn't really feeling Ichigo/Orihime as a couple. It's not that I'm biased or anything. It's just I don't really see them as a couple. He spent a good majority of the time IGNORING her and now all of a sudden there's a possibility that he MIGHT like her? I see their relationship more as brother/sister. That's only one reason why I can't see them together.

The other reason though? I actually prefer Orihime with Ishida. Ishida NEEDS someone sweet and bubbly to help him open up. And who better for the job than Orihime? I mean Ishida certainly hasn't shared screen time with any other female right? Mayuri's daughter doesn't count... Though I did fancy the idea of Ishida being with her for a while... WHAT?! Everyone is entitled to have their crack pairing moments you know.

Anyway, I have one more drabble left to go! It'll be Ishida/Orihime. While I was writing the Bleach drabbles I tried really hard not to be biased. It's just some couples were more appealing and interesting to try and write about. I enjoyed writing the Ichigo/Rukia drabble a lot more than I did the Ichigo/Orihime drabble because I had a little more to work with. At least Ichigo and Rukia are around each other constantly!

Ichigo and Orihime are around each other too but not nearly enough. Plus I haven't seen any really huge and significant hints from Ichigo about his feelings towards Orihime. Orihime though? We all know she totally LOVES Ichigo. Oh well. I tried and that's all that mattered.

I'm toying around with the idea of actually expanding more on the Bleach drabbles. Someone left me a review and said I should have wrote a chapter from the other person's perspective. For the drabbles, I took turns writing from only one person's perspective. The first drabble was Tatsuki's perspective then the second drabble was Renji's perspective. So basically I went with a girl, boy, girl, boy scheme.

It worked out better that way because I was really able to get into most of the characters' heads. The only ones who gave me grief were Aizen and Ichigo. Those two sure are hard to write about! Anyway, I'm thinking maybe I should write drabbles from the other person's perspective as well? I don't know... I'll see how that goes.

As for my latest Gundam Wing story which is a romantic comedy, I managed to get chapter two written. I had lots of fun with that chapter. I won't give away any details but let's just say I took some liberties while writing about one particular Peacecraft. Chapter two is currently being beta read so I'm waiting to hear back from my beta. Until then I'm going to try and think about what should happen in chapter three. I don't want the story to jump all over the place. That would be a catastrophe!

So far, I've only written about Heero and Relena. In the third chapter, I plan on focusing on a different couple. Said couple will probably be Duo and Hilde too. I like Heero and Relena as a couple but I find that they get way too much exposure. The stories over at ff.net are either entirely yaoi or entirely Heero/Relena. After awhile you get tired of seeing nothing but yaoi story after yaoi story and then when you finally think you've found a non yaoi story, it ends up being 1xR...

Every once in a while I'd like to see 2xH, 4xD (or Quatre paired with any woman really-he's NOT gay I tell you!), 5xS, 6x9 or 13xLU. I'd love to see Trowa paired with someone but he was the only character who wasn't officially paired with a woman. I would pair him with Catherine but I'm so used to the idea of them being siblings that it would be weird writing about them... Unless... And darn it! Now I've got a mutated plot bunny on the loose! *sighs*

The bad news though is that I have finals to worry about in less than three weeks. So that means I'll probably be lagging in the writing department again. That's why updates have been so far and few. I've been trying to stay afloat with school and my part time job which might as well be a full time job.

Anyway, hopefully this weekend I can get some more writing done. I plan to wrap up my Bleach drabbles within the week. And I also plan to have chapter three to Love Is A Battlefield ready and raring to go by the end of the week as well. Only time will tell though.

First things first! I've stumbled upon some very horrifying stories concerning meat. For starters, farmers give chickens hormone treatments so they can grow in three weeks. They also have to give them some other sort of medicine to calm them down. With cows, they're feed food that's treated with hormones to make them really fat. Not only that but sometimes the cows aren't killed before they're slaughtered. So that means the cow is still alive while it's hanging on the meat hook. Their bodies then release all sorts of toxins (because they're in pain, etc, etc).

What's even worse (and this part I already knew) is our veggies and fruits are being sprayed with lots of pesticides and chemicals. Another thing that bothers me is how the FDA has approved the usage of cloned meat. Studies claim that consuming cloned meat won't negatively affect our health but that's just not natural. I do not fancy the idea of eating a piece of chicken or beef that's come from a cloned animal...

I've been trying to cut back on certain meats (beef and pork mainly) because I know red meats are one of the leading factors of high blood pressure, heart attacks and possibly strokes. Chicken isn't bad for you but it's still not ideal to eat it every day. Fish isn't very good for you either because reportedly certain types of fish have high levels of mercury within them.

So as you can see, I've been a little more than bothered by all of these recent findings. I know they're not new or anything. With the country we live in, bigger and better is in while smaller and leaner is out. At least when it comes to meals and size portions for food that is.

So what am I trying to say? I am currently looking into healthier and better eating habits. I figured I was doing fine by eating yogurt, whole wheat bread, brown rice, grilled fish or chicken and baked chips just to name a few but not even those products are safe. Food additives are added to lots of foods, certain nutrients are lost during food processing and what's even worse is many foods contain high fructose syrup which is basically sugar (or at least an equivalent of sugar).

Currently I'm interested in either switching over to eating substitute meats like soy meat or just buying organic meats. I also want to look into starting some sort of meal plan for myself. Normally I try to get lean foods, foods low in sugar, sodium and fat and "reduced" fat foods. Unfortunately those foods tend to be just as bad or sometimes worse than the foods with a set amount of sugar, salt and fat.

I'm also interested in maybe taking a multi-vitamin once a day. I know this all sounds strange and what not. But I'm really trying to improve my health. I don't want to be 35 with high blood pressure, at high risk for heart attacks, stroke, cancer or diabetes. I'm trying to live a nice and long (not to mention) healthy life thank you very much.

I've also decided that I need to go out and either buy an exercise DVD or actually start walking or jump roping. I own a jump rope but it hasn't been used yet. I would love to go walking but my neighborhood isn't exactly safe. Maybe during the afternoon but I would never want to walk around my neighborhood early in the morning or at night.

So here's my current plan:
Slowly but surely reduce my consumption of beef and pork
Try to purchase organic chicken or fish
In the event I do get a taste for beef or pork, I plan on buying organic beef or pork
Start buying fruits and veggies from the fruit stand
Search various websites on how to start a healthy meal plan
Try to squeeze in at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise

I have no idea when all of that will go into effect but I'm hoping once I get all of my facts/information straight, I'll be able to rest easier at night.

And by the way, I have not forgotten about Love Is A Battlefield. I'm actually working on chapter two at the moment. I just need to finish it and send it off to my beta. More on that particular story later though.

It's been a while since I've updated this journal hasn't it? Well I just finished writing a new chapter for my Bleach drabble series. It really shouldn't have taken me forever and a day to write the latest chapter but I just haven't had the inspiration to write anything lately. But the thing is... I've been wanting to get back into writing! I've just been having a hard time getting motivated to do so!

At any rate, I only have two more "chapters" to write. The next chapter will be Ichigo/Orihime. It's going to be hard pulling that couple off because I'm not really a fan of that couple but I'll do my best. I'm really nervous about the chapter I just released actually... I'm not a fan of Ichigo/Rukia anymore either. I'm really scared the diehard Ichiruki fans might want my blood for the chapter I just published...

I tried to do her and her feelings towards Ichigo and Renji justice! Honest I did! I really have my work cut out for me concerning Ichigo/Orihime though. That chapter is going to be from Ichigo's point of view and he's such a hard character to write! I haven't written him before but characters like him usually give me so much grief...

I've never really had much success getting into the "misunderstood/angsty lead character's" head. Then again I managed to pull it off with the Gundam Wing boys. And let's face it. They're about as screwed up as they come! Let's just hope I can do Ichigo/Orihime justice!

And now about those future stories! Here's what I currently have in the works.

Love Is A Battlefield

Anime/Manga: Gundam Wing

Pairings: 1/R, 2/H, 4/D, 5/S and 6/N

Genre: Humor/Romance

Summary: Tired and fed up with their boring and lackluster love lives, the girls decide to take matters into their own hands. They're determined to make this Valentine's Day the most memorable day of their lives. The guys, however, are going to have to do away with their sanity, pride, dignity and maybe even self-respect if they plan on keeping the hearts of their ladies.

INSPIRATION: Every Valentine's Day, I always want to write a ridiculously funny and cute story about romance. Not the sappy, sweet, gooey makes your teeth fall out kind of romance either. Since most of my stories on fanfiction.net are either angst, tragedy, drama or general, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try my hand at a romantic comedy.

Love Letters (Working Title)

Anime/Manga: Fruits Basket

Pairings: Kyo/Tohru, one-sided Yuki/Tohru

Genre: Romance/Hurt/Comfort

Summary: A follow up to "Because of You". Frustrated by his inability to tell Tohru his feelings, Yuki makes the colossal mistake of attempting to write her a love letter. Once he completes it, however, he has second doubts about confessing and decides to dispose of the letter. Kyo, on the other hand, decides it's time to come clean with Tohru. Unfortunately for both of them, destiny has other things in mind.

INSPIRATION: As long as I've been keeping up with the Fruits Basket manga, I noticed that when the fans write fanfiction, none of them ever address the love triangle between Kyo/Tohru/Yuki. Some fans write her with Kyo while other fans write her with Yuki. I've even seen some fans pair her with Haru, Hatori and Akito just to name a few. I'm actually terrified to think of who else she might have been paired with... Anyway, this particular idea came about because I wanted to write a story that explores the love triangle but at the same time I wanted each of their feelings to be portrayed. I just hope I can do Fruits Basket justice. I still think the one shot I posted a year ago could have been much better... But the thing with Fruits Basket is that it's so good that it really doesn't NEED any fanfiction. The author pretty much covered all of her bases except for a few things but more on that at a later time.

I've got a few other ideas in mind but those are going to be my next two stories. At least I hope so...

Current Mood: creativecreative

Last night I made curried chicken with rice. I substituted a few ingredients for other items but overall, the dish came out really good. I didn't eat all of it tonight but the rest will definitely be enjoyed for dinner on tomorrow! Later on, I will post what I used for the dish and how I made it though. I still haven't gotten in the habit of exercising though. Perhaps I should change that starting tomorrow. After all, I have the whole day to myself so why not?

As for writing, I haven't had the urge to pick up anything. I really need to finish my uncompleted Gundam Wing story "Just One Of Those Days" and I really should finish my TMNT story "Kiss Me, Kill Me, Make Me Yours". It's just not fair to my fans that I haven't updated either story in well over a year... I would hate to just leave them unfinished too because I HATE coming across a really good story only to find it's incomplete.

Hmmm, what else? In the event that I do manage to write something, it'll probably be my next Bleach drabble. The couple of my choosing this time around shall be Ichigo and Rukia. I have an idea on what I want to do with the drabble. It's just a matter of sitting down and getting started. That'll be the hard part. Then again even if I do manage to get the drabble ready and raring to go, I might not be able to post it. For some reason, I can't access fanfiction.net... Hopefully it's just me and not the website.

I've been toying around with the idea of writing romantic stories. No blood, gore, tragedy, angst or drama. Just strictly fluffy, light hearted romances. I want to try my hand at romances because most of my stories have strong and solid friendships but never enough romances. I think it's about time I took the plunge and tried to write a strictly romance story. I just hope these particular stories end up being believable and realistic instead of overly cliche and predictable. There's nothing worse than reading a book and predicting everything that'll happen before you even finish the book... Only to find out what you thought would happen DID in fact happen! Am I making any sense here?

Oh and I haven't given up on my vampire story. I think I just might write that story for the fun of it. I might post it and I might not post it. I'm more concerned about my romance stories though. I need to write happier and lighter stories instead of focusing so much on doom and gloom. I'm not a negative person by nature either. I just have the absolute WORST habit of being a pessimist when things are rough. At any rate, I'm sleepy. Time for me to go and take a brief reprieve.

Current Mood: bouncybouncy
So I'm finally getting around to posting my recipe for curried chicken and rice! As I mentioned last time, I substitued a few ingredients out. I'm posting what you're SUPPOSED to use and what I used. That way, you can try the dish both ways. ^___^

Original Ingredients
3/4 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
2 tsp olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp curry powder
1 cup long grain rice
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed

My Ingredients
3/4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tsp vegetable oil (olive oil is better so stick with that oil)
A few sprinkles of onion salt
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper (I'm assuming red bell peppers are better for you but I used green bell peppers because I couldn't find a red bell pepper. It shouldn't take away from the taste though if you use a green bell pepper though)
A few sprinkles of garlic salt
*Onion salt and Garlic salt work just as well as chopped onions and garlic. I found it easier to use the salt because I could sprinkle it in whereas with the chopped onions and garlic, I was afraid I'd end up putting too much onion and garlic in so that's why I used the onion salt and garlic salt*
1/2 tsp of curry powder
1 cup of brown rice (I couldn't get long grain rice so I used brown rice. Surprisingly the brown rice tasted very good. It was my first time ever having brown rice too. So from now on, I'm switching over to brown rice. It's better for you anyway.)
2 cups of chicken broth
1 cup frozen mixed vegetables

Original Preparations
1) Cut chicken into 3/4 inch pieces. In a large saucepan brown chicken in hot oil. Add onion, bell pepper and garlic. Cook until onion is tender. Stir in curry powder.
2) Stir in rice, broth, salt and pepper to taste. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for ten minutes. Stir in peas and carrots. Cover and cook for five minutes more or until rice is tender. Add watera few tablespoons at a time if rice seems dry.

My Preparations
1) Cut chicken into 3/4 inch pieces. I used a large skillet instead of the saucepan. After I was done cutting the chicken into pieces, I chopped up the bell pepper while I let the oil heat up. I took the seeds from the bell pepper and sprinkled it over the chicken pieces. I figured it would give the chicken a little kick. After that, I put the chicken pieces and the bell pepper pieces into the skillet. DO NOT LET THE CHICKEN AND BELL PEPPERS STICK TO THE PAN. If that happens, you're going to end up with burnt bell peppers and chicken. Make sure you keep an eye on what heat temperature you use while you cook the chicken and bell pepper pieces too. If it's too high, you'll end up burning the chicken. If it's too low, you might be awhile while you're making the dish.

2) Continously stir the chicken and bell pepper pieces so they won't stick to the pan. Also, I made sure to keep stirring the pieces so they could cook evenly on both sides. After the bell pepper pieces got soft and the chicken pieces turned brown, I sprinkled the onion and garlic salt on them. Don't over do it with the onion and garlic salt though. Otherwise you're going to have a very garlic/onion flavored dish. I'm fond of onion/garlic flavored dishes but not to the point that it's all I can taste in the dish.

3) Next, I poured in two cups of chicken broth over the chicken and bell pepper pieces. Continously stir the chicken pieces and bell pepper pieces while the broth is simmering. Make sure the heat is at a reasonable temperature though because if not you're going to end up with really hot broth and you might get burned while you're stirring the chicken and bell pepper pieces.

4) After the chicken and bell pepper pieces have "absorbed" the chicken broth, pour in your vegetables. You can either use the peas and carrots or mixed vegetables. I find that the mixed vegetables were better because you end up getting a little bit of everything when you use mixed vegetables.

5) Now that the chicken pieces, bell pepper pieces, mixed vegetables and broth are cooking, check on the rice. After I had all of my main ingredients in the skillet, I cooked the rice. Technically I cheated by using a rice cooker but at least the rice was done! While the rice is cooking, turn the heat down to low for the skillet and just let the chicken pieces, bell pepper pieces, mixed vegetables and broth simmer.

*I almost forgot to mention this but when you're cooking the chicken pieces, you might want to drain the oil off of the chicken. It'll make the dish taste less like oil. At least, that's what I thought so I drained the oil off of the chicken and bell peppers.*

6) Once the rice is done, carefully pour it into the skillet. If you used a rice cooker, all of the water should have been drained already. If you cooked it over the stove then make sure there's no water left in the pot. Basically make sure the rice is drained before you add it to the chicken, bell peppers, broth and mixed vegetables.

7) Stir everything up and make sure you do it very slowly. Stirring too fast might make you spill some of the food. Once you're sure, it's been stirred enough, turn the heat off and let the dish cool.

8) After it's cooled off, dig in and enjoy!

If anyone ends up trying this, then let me know. I want to know if I'm not crazy in liking this dish! ^___^  For any future recipes I end up trying out, I will make sure to share them with anyone who wants to try them.

So I totally take back what I said about my Bleach drabbles. Surprisingly they've gone over very well. I've posted eight drabbles/chapters and so far I have fifteen reviews. What's even sweeter is the fact that my hit counter is pretty high. I'm surprised people actually LIKE my drabbles. I didn't think they were going to go over very well. So THANK YOU to everyone who has either read, reviewed or even skimmed through my drabbles. It gives me confidence because I do plan on writing a Bleach one shot centered around Orihime. I won't give that away just yet because I haven't even started on it yet!

At any rate, I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to finish my drabbles series. I just started school and work is keeping me busy when I'm NOT at school. Plus, I've been having to do battle with my sister for the computer... Not fun. Oh but this should tide you guys over. I'm currently taking a Poetry class for my last English requirement. I plan on posting the poems I write in class here on my journal BUT those poems are going to be under a friend's lock.

I know that sounds so anal but I'm highly overprotective of my writings. It's one thing for me to write about characters that aren't mine. It's a whole different ball game when I'm writing about my very own characters and feelings. I would hate to spend so much time on a story and then BAM! I'm cruising the net only to find that someone has taken my poetry or my original writings and are trying to pass them as their own.

And since the internet is pretty much free, I wouldn't be able to do a thing if my works were stolen. So yeah friend's lock it is. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Sooooo, for those of you who are uber curious my next Bleach drabble is probably going to be centered around Ichigo and Rukia. I don't know how I'm going to pull that drabble off because I'm not really a fan of that pairing anymore. Plus I'm biased... Hey, I can't help it if I like Renji and Rukia better. They just seem more canon! Not to mention they're SOOOO cute!

Moving along, I've been reading some Christian romance novels as of late. The first one I read was terrible. I wouldn't recommend that author to anyone. The second novel, however, has kept my attention far more than the first novel did. And this time around, I actually LIKE all of the characters except for one of them but I can't give away the plot. The title of the book is called Courting Trouble and it's set in Texas, 1894.  It's a very good book and so far, everything that's happened came across as very believable and accurate.

What else am I missing? OH! Tonight I'm going to attempt to make curried chicken with rice. I'm about to go start that dish within the next few minutes actually. I hope it turns out better than my vegetable medley did. I'm going to try and make that dish again but not anytime soon. And by the way, please don't buy Campbell's Chunky Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. It's okay but it's nothing to go crazy over. All of their other Chunky soups are good though. At least the ones I've had were good. I'm very partial to Beef with Country Vegetables, Sirloin Burger with Country Vegetables and Chicken Noodle Soup. They've got a few other soups but those are the only four I've had so far.

As for sweets, you guys should definitely try the Nabisco 100 calorie snack packs. They're so good! They're the best thing when you have a sweet tooth! The only thing is you get a very small amount of cookies. So if you're anything like me, you have to practice patience and eat one bag per day. Otherwise, you're going to end up going through your cookies faster than you originally intended to! I think I've rambled enough for one entry so if you'll excuse me, it's off to go and start preparing dinner. ^___^ 4
